Linwood Vaughn

Worked at Royal Crown Bottling Company

Linwood Vaughn worked at the Royal Crown Bottling Company before he joined the U.S. Army. Working in the Quartermaster Corps, Private Vaughn was born on September 23, 1925.

Serving his country in World War 2 in the Pacific Theater, Pvt. Vaughn was killed in action on December 22, 1945. He is buried in the National Memorial Park of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. His relative, Jeannie Dillard, who lived at 320 East Tinsley Street, was notified of the death.

Although Vaughn did not come home alive, a community now honors the World War II, soldier. An individual plaque will be installed in Historic Downtown Griffin. The plaque is sponsored by Petro South.
