Willie James Walker, Jr.

Helped in Final Push to Defeat Germany

Willie James Walker, Jr. grew up along North Hill Street, Route D, Box 220, Griffin. His father John Walker and mother, Louise, who became a widow, would later live at 402 East Chappell.

Walker was born on March 9, 1924 and was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army. Little is known of his military service. We do know, however, Walker was killed on May 23, 1945, at the end of World War II, helping defeat the Germans in the final push toward victory by the allies.
