Cecil Marion Sikes

Killed in Action on French Battlefield

Army Private Cecil Marion Sikes, was born in 1913. He entered the service and would serve overseas in France in World War II.

At 31 years old, Sikes was killed in action on the battlefield in France on August 12, 1944. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Sikes and were notified of their son’s death. He is buried in the Brittany area, St. James Marche, France.

Although US Army PrivateSikes did not come home alive, a community now honors the World War II, soldier. An individual plaque will be installed in Historic Downtown Griffin. The plaque is sponsored by Carole and John Carlisle.
