Albert J. Terrell

Buried in Friendship Church Cemetery

Army Private Albert J. Terrell was born on July 6, 1913. The son of Mrs. Sally Terrell who lived along Route B, Griffin, was assigned to fight in France during World War 2. Less than two months after he reported overseas, Terrell was killed in action on November 21, 1944. The dreaded telegram was received by his wife, Mrs. Lois Smith Terrell.

Terrell’s body was returned to his hometown and he is buried in the Friendship Church Cemetery, Griffin. Although Terrell did not come home alive, a community now honors the World War II, soldier. An individual plaque will be installed in Historic Downtown Griffin. The plaque is sponsored by Petro South.
