Wilborn Wesley Brock

Signed, “Your loving son, Bud.”

Private First Class, Wilborn Wesley Brock, wrote his last letter to his parents ending with, “Your loving son, Bud.” It was the last letter Brock would write to hisparents at their West Quilley home. Born on August 24, 1931, Brock was one of eight children;five daughters and three sons. He served in the U.S. Army in the 31stInfantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. Brock died December 3, 1950 in the Chosin Reservoir area of Korea. His remains were never recovered.

Although Brock did not come home alive, a grateful community now honors our Hometown Hero. An individual plaque will be installed in Historic Downtown Griffin. The plaque is sponsored by General Storage-Otis Blake III.
