Commer Eugene Allen

Gave His Life for Our Freedoms

Private First Class, Commer Eugene Allen, was born in Griffin on May 9, 1933. He served in the U.S. Army in the 180th Infantry Regiment,45th Infantry Division. Allen was killed in action on June 14, 1952 in the T-Bone Hill battle zone of Korea. He is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Griffin.

Although Allen did not come home alive, a grateful community now honors our Hometown Hero. An individual plaque will be installed in Historic Downtown Griffin in his honor. The plaque is sponsored by an anonymous donor who is proud to honor these brave Griffin-Spalding County heroes.
